A big “thank you!” to everyone who voted for our bid for an award from the Cash for Crieff fund. We did it! We have been awarded the full amount of £2017. This helps to secure our plans for events this season; well done Crieff & Strathearn Museum Supporters!!!
Crieff & Strathearn Museum supporter, Gary Reid, brought a long reach access platform to OSM to repair the hole in the roof caused by falling harling a few years ago. Gary carried out this work free of charge in less than ideal conditions and we are immensely grateful.
Today we had a stand at the Crieff Community Volunteer Festival, in the Artspace, manned by Louise Hall and Andrew Rodger. It was an opportunity to network with other voluntary groups from the area and it was good to meet new faces, especially people who were interested to talk about the museum.
On Saturday, the Crieff Museum group ran an open event at the Strathearn Artspace. I could only be there in the morning but here is Ann’s report of the day:
Today was our first proper public engagement event, for which we took a stall in the Crieff Market. Despite earlier forecasts of torrential rain, the sun shone and it was a lovely day. The market was not as busy as it has been but we had a lot of interest and we were able to add 56 new names to our list of supporters, which is very gratifying. It was also lovely to hear how enthusiastic many people are for a new museum and how keen they are to see this project progress. We are also pleased to report takings of £32 in the cash collection box on the day.
This evening, Ann McIntosh, Ewen Honeyman, Andrew Rodger and Fiona Rodger attended a talk by Professor Richard Oram (Dean of Arts and Humanities – History, Stirling University) and Dr. Lucy Dean (Lecturer in History – Late Medieval and Early Modern Scotland and Europe – UHI) at the Battle of Bannockburn visitors centre by Stirling.
